AHS students excel on state stage

The presence of Alvarado students on the Texas Music Educators Association all-state band and choir rosters is nothing new — they’ve been regulars for almost 20 years.

For the 18th time in the last 19 years, Alvarado High School has at least one all-state student as three band members and one choir student earned all-state honors this year.

The three band members are Michaela Cole (clarinet), Austin Rogers (clarinet) and Cameron Schreiber (percussion).

There were also seven members of the band who were first alternates, meaning they were one place away from earning all-state honors. The alternate honorees were Allysa Remington (flute), Bryce Dennis (alto sax), Devon Crowe (bass clarinet), Zach Sneed (trumpet), Jesse Urbina (bass trombone), Conner Stevenson (euphonium) and Patrick Murr (tuba).

Representing the Alvarado High School choir was Aaron Wardlaw. Wardlaw’s selection marks the 11th straight year a choir student has been honored. It is also the 17th time in the last 18 years.

Another choir student, Dylan Garrett, was named an all-state alternate.
